Tulipwood

(Dalbergia frutescens)

This attractive wood is found in Central and Latin America primarily in Brazil, Colombia, Guyana, and Venezuela. It is also known as Pau rosa, Pinkwood, Pau de fuso, and Jacaranda rosa. It is hard and dense with an elegant pink-yellow hearwood with a pronounced strip of pink to deep red. The wood is so hard that it dulls the cutting edges of tools.
