The
heartwood is of a dark chocolate brown, sometimes tinged with purplish red. The
sapwood is usually light cream of yellow color. Grows across the Southwestern
United States. Also known as Gregg Catclaw, Devil’s claw, paradise flower, and
Texas mimosa.
